Our approach
Practical plumbing skills, taught in small groups
Plumbing Skills Academy aims to help people develop practical plumbing skills and a stronger understanding of the plumbing trade.
The academy is led by Arbnor, a plumbing lecturer with over 8 years of teaching experience. The focus is on accessible, practical learning in a small-group environment, giving students opportunities to learn through instruction and hands-on activities.
The introductory course
The intensive introductory course is for people who want to learn the fundamentals of plumbing, develop practical skills and explore further training opportunities. It runs in one of two formats: 10 evenings, Monday to Friday, from 18:00 to 21:00, or 5 Saturdays from 09:00 to 15:00 over 5 weeks.

How we teach
Practical, small-group, step by step

Small-group teaching
Classes of a maximum of 6–8 students, so everyone can take part and ask questions.
Tools provided
All tools required for the practical activities are supplied for use during the course.
Two certificates
A Certificate of Completion and a CPD Certificate for students who meet the course requirements. Not a regulated qualification.
Who it’s for
Who the introductory course suits
You don’t need previous plumbing experience, and the course will lead you into progressing onto a Level 2 Plumbing Diploma. It suits:
- Complete beginners. Start from the basics with step-by-step instruction and guided practice. No previous plumbing experience is needed.
- People exploring plumbing. Find out what practical plumbing work involves before deciding whether to take your training further.
- Building a foundation. Cover selected skills and subject areas before considering further plumbing training.
- Hands-on learners. Spend time practising with pipe, fittings and tools. All tools are supplied for use during the course.

After the introductory course, the academy intends to introduce further plumbing training, including Level 2 courses. Neither programme is open for enrolment yet.
