Practical introductory training in one of two formats: 10 weekday evenings (Mon–Fri, 18:00–21:00) or 5 Saturdays (09:00–15:00) over 5 weeks. Classes of no more than 6–8 students.

Build a foundation in practical plumbing
This intensive introductory course helps students understand the fundamentals of plumbing and develop practical skills through guided training.
The course combines practical activities with essential plumbing knowledge. Students learn in a small group of no more than 6–8 people, with all tools supplied for use during training.
Who it’s for
- Complete beginners. Start from the basics with step-by-step instruction and guided practice. No previous plumbing experience is needed.
- People exploring plumbing. Find out what practical plumbing work involves before deciding whether to take your training further.
- Building a foundation. Cover selected skills and subject areas before considering further plumbing training.
- Hands-on learners. Spend time practising with pipe, fittings and tools. All tools are supplied for use during the course.

Course aims
The course aims to give students opportunities to:
- Understand basic plumbing tools and safe working practices.
- Become familiar with common plumbing materials and fittings.
- Practise selected plumbing installation techniques.
- Understand basic pipework preparation and assembly.
- Develop an understanding of common domestic plumbing components.
- Build a foundation for considering further plumbing training.
Regulated work: the course does not cover gas work, electrical work or other regulated activities. Introductory training does not qualify students to undertake regulated or specialist work independently.

Students who meet the course completion requirements will receive:

Documents completion of the introductory course.

Documents the topics and learning activities completed, subject to the academy’s CPD arrangements.
Please note: these certificates are not a regulated plumbing qualification, a Level 2 Diploma or an NVQ, and the introductory course does not qualify you to carry out regulated or specialist work independently.

Do I need any previous plumbing experience?
No. The course is designed for beginners and for people who want to build a foundation in practical plumbing skills.
Do I need to bring my own tools?
No. All tools required for the practical activities are supplied for use during the course.

Where does the training take place?

What certificates will I receive?
