Intensive Introductory Plumbing Course

Practical introductory training in one of two formats: 10 weekday evenings (Mon–Fri, 18:00–⁠21:00) or 5 Saturdays (09:00–⁠15:00) over 5 weeks. Classes of no more than 6–⁠8 students.

Build a foundation in practical plumbing

This intensive introductory course helps students understand the fundamentals of plumbing and develop practical skills through guided training.

The course combines practical activities with essential plumbing knowledge. Students learn in a small group of no more than 6–⁠8 people, with all tools supplied for use during training.

Course aims

The course aims to give students opportunities to:

Regulated work: the course does not cover gas work, electrical work or other regulated activities. Introductory training does not qualify students to undertake regulated or specialist work independently.

  6. Basic Bathroom Installation, Pipework & Planning
  7. Basic Radiator Connections & Heating Pipework
  8. Sinks, Taps, Traps & Waste Pipework
  9. Identifying & Repairing Common Plumbing Leaks
  10. Pricing Basic Plumbing Work & Preparing Simple Quotations

Practical training

Hands-on practice with real tools and fittings

The course combines practical activities with essential plumbing knowledge. All tools are supplied for use during training, and classes are kept to a maximum of 6–⁠8 students.

Practical training and tools

All tools required for the practical activities are supplied for use during training.

Class size

A maximum of 6–⁠8 students per class, to support practical participation and access to instruction.

How it relates to Level 2

Covers selected skills you may also meet in Level 2 plumbing training. It is not a substitute for a Level 2 programme and does not guarantee admission to any qualification.

What you receive on completion

Students who meet the course completion requirements will receive:

Certificate of Completion

Documents completion of the introductory course.

CPD Certificate

Documents the topics and learning activities completed, subject to the academy’s CPD arrangements.

Please note: these certificates are not a regulated plumbing qualification, a Level 2 Diploma or an NVQ, and the introductory course does not qualify you to carry out regulated or specialist work independently.
